Many young people in Manipur possess strong cultural knowledge, creativity, community relationships, and leadership potential, yet lack dignified livelihood opportunities rooted in their local identity and environment. Existing employment pathways often reward migration, formal credentials, or urban relocation, leaving many youth underemployed or disconnected from meaningful local opportunities. Children and vulnerable communities additionally lack sustained mentorship, foundational learning support, creative engagement, and wellbeing-oriented programs. Existing interventions are often fragmented, temporary, or externally designed without strong community participation.
At the same time, Manipur remains largely disconnected from India’s mainstream educational, volunteering, and cultural exchange ecosystems. Most external engagement with the region is limited, short-term, or shaped by stereotypes rather than meaningful community participation.
There is growing demand among students, artists, researchers, volunteers, educators, and socially conscious travelers for immersive, community-led learning experiences. However, there are very few trusted local ecosystems capable of facilitating safe, structured, and meaningful engagement in Manipur.
